How to Remove Your Mascara

Let’s be real - raise your hand if you fell asleep with mascara on last night. We all do it, no shame. The ugly truth is that our eyes are probs one of the most delicate areas on our bodies, and by not cleaning the skin and hair surrounding them at the end of the day we’re introducing the risk of product buildup, bacterial infections, and increased breakage and shedding of your lashes. EEK! No thanks, babe.

C’mon bestie, let’s give ourselves and our lashes the love we deserve and learn how to take our makeup off the Babe way, and why we should do this extra step every night to get the most out of our lash routine.

The Easy How-To

What You Need: Warm water Eye makeup remover (not just wipes) Cotton pads or a clean cloth Face cleanser Q-tips
How to remove your mascara

*Depending on the mascara, you may need to repeat steps 1-3 to fully remove your mascara and any other makeup products you have on your eyes. Waterproof mascara will take a couple passes and some patience, but the Babe Lash Enriching or Volumizing mascara will glide off with one cycle of steps 1-3.

This is our tried-and-true method for saying good-bye to bacteria, build-up, and environmental debris and making our lash lines and skin a clean slate to kick off our evening skincare routines, starting with a swipe of our treatments. Do you use a diff method or have any questions? Sound off below or send us a DM, we love hearing from yall!

Helpful info! I steer clear of waterproof mascara for fear I will ruin my lashes while trying to remove each day.

Can you use eye cream and moisturizer with the serum/conditioner?

This article is so helpful. It wasn’t until about 6 months ago that the thought even occurred to me that there may be a proper way to remove your mascara. I was definitely removing my mascara the wrong way!

Hello! Two questions! First I’ve been using babe lash serum and conditioner for about two years. I feel like it is not working anymore. Can you please advise. I use it consistently morning and night. Also is babe lash safe for my daughter who is 15 years old? Thank you so much!

This is helpful, I also don’t wear mascara on days when I’m home all day. I feel like giving my lashes a break is super helpful and makes a difference!

I am so glad you gave this teaching. If I had seen it when I was younger, (the warnings and what could happen if a person does not wash off mascara every night) I would not have build up bumps in my eye lids now. Thank you.

I am really enjoying your blogs❣I have always been extremely diligent about removing my make-up at night & I have never even worn a waterproof mascara. The cleansing regime I use, all of my makeup, I actually wear very little, comes off, mascara included. I will use Lancome’s eye makeup remover if I absolutely need to. I then rinse it off with water or a tiny bit of clean cleanser with skin-loving & skin-performing ingredients. I have dry ,a little bit sensitive, fair skin. Thank goodness I have always loved skincare & had a multi step system + I am blessed w/ very good skin. I have & am making a permanent change to clean skincare & make-up. Is their a eye make-up remover you all recommend or favor. The selection is so very convoluted & overwhelming, so I turn to experts such as yourselves for guidance on certain products &/or issues. Thank you for your time & I look forward to hearing back from you❣Michelle Wagner-Talley MSRC, LPC, BCPC

Super information! I personally love a good double cleanse. Especially helpful with the Enriching Liquid Eyeliner (that stuff STAYS in place), and it’s really satisfying to see all the pigment just melt away.

This is so spot on. I’m usually pretty good about taking my makeup off nightly however, on the rare occasion I’ve been super exhausted for some reason, it’s stayed on. The worst part about leaving my makeup on IMO is the morning after lol. Instead of waking up feeling refreshed and read for the day, your eyes feel crusty and gross. The thought of that is typically enough motivation for me to remove the mascara before bed!
